Several cases have been reported paitining money theft by Equity Bank customers. Most of the cases includes online fraud, unauthorised withdrawals as well as applied loans.
Equity Bank is a private Corporate which offers banking services in Kenya and East Africa in general. Under the leadership of James Mwangi, Equity Bank has spread widely especially in Kenya and has really acquired millions of customers.
However, the bank is no longer the listening and caring partner it was when it started. Various people have raised complains regarding money theft from their accounts.
The caring partner has however been listening but taking no action to stop the frauds. Consequently, the bank customers are having ideas that the bank employees are using customers’ details to steal from them.
A certain lady whose dad is Equity Bank customer raised a complain on faebook last december saying that when her retired dad went to withdraw his retirement funds from the bank, he rather found that he was he owed the bank. Apparently, the records showed that the old mzee had taken a Ksh. 36,000 loan which was not yet settled. The old man went to the manager to file his complain but to his shock, the manager rudely interrupted him asking him to leave the bank.
On a separate case, another guy realised his Ksh. 72,000 was missing from his account. He proceeded to the bank and filed a report and which he was adviced to wait for one month for the cash to be reversed. After one month, the guy went back to the bank since no reverse was made. To his surprise, he was asked to pay Ksh. 20,000 in order to be given the name of the person who stole from him. Crazy, right? Instead of the bank protecting the customers, it is protecting the fraudsters.
Well, we are living in a crazy world with insane people. A huge number of Equity bank customers are relocating to other trustworthy banks following the losing money cases. Soon Equity bank will close down if no action is taken.
